Does anyone else find the accelerator pedal "heavy"?

My accelerator pedal seemed "heavy" when I first got the car, then the throttle cable snapped and after replacing it, it seems a lot lighter!

It might be worth checking the cable is not frayed etc. 'cause it will be a pain in the ar*e if you get caught out like I did!

No doubt about it. Change your cable before it snaps. This is a common failure and the cables are difficult to acquire. Better safe than sorry.

Simon, where the pedal pivots on the bolt spray some WD40 and loosen the bolt a turn or two, then tighten it back up but not as tight,this worked on my Griff.

I was going to post exactly the same thing today until I took a closer look at the problem this afternoon!!

There are two springs at the engine end of the cable that help to close the throttle. I took them both off and carefully stretched each one by about half a cm.
The springs are still more than capable of bringing the throttle to fully closed but now the pedal is much lighter and I can pull away with far more control.

Nearly all of the chims I test drove had very heavy throttles compared to the cerbera and although Im sure youd get used to it, it really makes it difficult to control the throttle esp on a gentle pull away. I think the springs fitted to the chim throttle assembly are a little too heavy.

I cant see any harm in doing this as long as the springs still have plenty of strength to FULLY close the throttle as soon as you come off the gas but it may be best to wait and see what others think before you do it
