I've been out this evening to pick some bits up from John Zubak (Thanks John). On the way back I was getting a clunk from the rear nearside. Pulled over and one of the anti roll bar bolts is loose. Phew - could be worse! Just limp home and tighten everything I think.

Then the problem began! I put it in reverse to do a three point turn. Goes into reverse gear no problem. Raise the clutch and the car starts to pull back but won't move. It's like the handbrake is on. Forward fine.
Give it lots of beans and I can hear the rear wheels skidding and it shunts back. Drive off - no problems in forward motion, although brakes feel a little spongier than normal.

Get back home and same performance. It's as if the handbrake is stuck on but only in reverse.

Too late to have a proper look but any ideas?

Could it simply be a sticky handbrake, but then why only in reverse?
Diff? (please no!)
I recently (last week) changed the discs, pads, front callipers and fluid.

thanks again (posting problems is becoming all to frequent - I've had it five weeks, first it catches fire and now this)

You need to have a look at what you have done brake wise as this is to much of a coincidence frown unlikely to be diff related I think thumbup

SNAP! No, not the problems, but I too have had mine about five weeks. I get it back from the garage today after the fifth to eighth faults have been fixed. Only two of them were life threatening, to be fair.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but I thought I'd update for future reference (hate it when you find a thread with a problem you have but no conclusion)

Anyway suffice to say that the rear axle and diff were entirely normal. Closer inspection revealed that the nearside front wheel was locking.

Took the wheel off and found that the top caliper mounting bolt had gone amiss and the claiper was pivoting on the rear bolt. In forward motin the caliper was being dragged forward into its normal position but on reversing it was pivoting back and jamming!

Difficult to get a torque wrench on thos etop bolts but I'm pretty sure I toqrqued it down pretty hard.
Anyway new bolts all round and loctite just to be sure!

Ouch! I had *EXACTLY* that when I changed my discs and calipers two years ago when I first got mine ... however with mine it was the bottom caliper bolt that went AWOL and therefore mine locked the front wheel solid at about 40mph. frown
