The bearing on my alternator sized solid today resulting in much smoke & burning rubber!
It is a 100A Magneti Marelli on a Serpentine 400 1998.

Any views on the best source on a replacement part would be gratefully received, or should I try to get a new bearing fitted to my unit?
Will an alternator from a Land rover fit?

Thanks Andy

Andy a friendly auto electrician who rebuilds Alternators/Starters can do this for you quite inexpensive but obviously he wont guarantee the rest of the unit/gubbins smile a good time to get a set of brushes and new slip ring though scratchchin I would say do it yourself (normally motorcycle wheel bearing sizes inside) but its a bit tricky if you only have regular/limited hand tools frown

I was lucky enough to find a new (old stock) Magnetti Marelli on on Ebay. Failing that, Land Rover specialists stock them for a price ranging from £100 - £400!

I found it cost about the same amount to get the old one refurbed as it did to buy a new one.
