ecumate and green resistor
Discussion
Hello,
I had in the past some problems with my Chim 400, fuel consumption, black smoke and the car eventually cut off sometimes, the Afm was faultly!!Changed it and also bought an ecumate to read some fault if they exist.
After the first test some weeks ago, the ecumate indicate a green resistor
and found it near the battery!! I have adjusted the Afm screw to 1.25volt and am going to the garage on Friday to see the emissions.( at idle ecumate AFM lo and AFM Hi are 1.48v..)
The Lambda are connected since I bought the car, ( precat and main cat are installed I think because the noise is normal?)
What can I do with the lambda?
connected or not connected??
When I disconnect them, the car seem to run normaly but the ecumate indicate Limp and not green resistor!
I have also some intermittent cut off like last week at around 5000tr in second after turning to the right( very dangerous!!),electrical ou fuel???and when I parked the car after that the engine odour was curious
I have restarted the car and the ground was black like fuel at the exhaust end.
see my other post "fuel filter tank"
If you have some infos to help I am interested

Ive seen the wrong map reported back from the ECU on start up, but it normally corrects once the engine is running. You can check what map is running by looking at the lambda readings. On the cat map they will constantly shift as the ECU trims the mixture, on the non cat green tune resistor thet are fixed at 128 out of 255 steps. Do you know what tune resistor is fitted? They can be identified by the green or white insulation on the resistor. You really should not be running a green tune if you have catalysts, plus the green map may not be suitible for the TVR unless its a Mark Adams chip installed.
the Lambda are fixed when connected like 128 and the other indicate lean all the time, when the lambda are disconnected the values are not stable, like lean and rich curious??also limp mode.
it is a green resistor 470ohms, I have also an invoice from Austec for a remap in 2003, not seem any work on the exhaust or catalist, it is dead now if installed!
Have done around 5000 miles with the Chim since purchase, the émissions were at the limit for the French Mot ( controle technique)

The fixed map value for the lambda of 128 are internally generated by the ECU, and have no bearing on if the lambda probes are connected or otherwise- so Im confused you get any sort of reading on the green map, fluctuation or otherwise. If its in Limp home mode, you should have a fault code the ECUmate can read.
You should not get a limp home code from the green from having the Lambda's disconnected- after all this map does not use them. I run with Lambda probes, but with the green map and have no issues. It will also switch between the two maps quite happily, and get sensible readings. You could try unplugging the Lambda's before you start the car just in case the lambda signal is turning the fuel trim circuits on (the probes are ignored by the ECU until it sees the first signal), but Ive never seen this on the green map any ECU Ive worked on.
