Just filled up my car, and by the looks of it managed to overfill it slightly.

Related or not, my immobiliser light is now stuck on, and i can't get the car to start. No fuel pump noise.

Any ideas?!

So far I've use unplugged the battery to no avail.

Help please laugh

if you think that it is the hot start issue, you may want to try the kit that mod-wise produce which will help solve this issue.

Think I've got a similar problem, just bought the Chim, been to fill it up twice and each time it coughs and splutters, miss fires, and cuts out at the lights, although it rights it self after a mile or two. there also appearer to be a lot of vacuum in the tank,

Classic hot start problem, filling up was a dread of mine until I fitted the Mod Wise kit.

If you over fill them, fuel gets into the charcoal filter in the nose and causes start/running issues.

This will burn off after you get them running and get some fuel burnt off.
You may find that the filter (cannister behind the r/h headlight - see pipes going in by the inner wing) is full of fuel. Take it out and empty it or you MAY be able to blow it out via the pipes.

Dont overfill is the main thing. Dont "brim" them. 1st click...thats it.

I agree with Andy that's overfilling not the hotstart issue.

+1 The carbon canister will dry out naturally without removing it, i can name a few Japanese cars prone to this, fill up but refrain from briming you can also cause paint damage doing this if the fuel cap leaks brimming.

Thanks for that, will bare that in mind the next time I'm filling up, not easy to do when you are going on a long trip with such a small tank, and a greedy car (smile) And the Vacuum anything to be concerned about, there is such a loud bang from the tank when the pump starts?? V8OW.hope this helps u as well, sorry for jumping in on your link,,,,Dave.

The banging is the tank pressurising.

I breathes through the neck and the cap. again, if brimmed it wont help.
Should have a problem with the old original cap, the shiney Leven type ones seal too well.
Put a nick in the cap seal.

From memory there's a breather pipe that goes down the driver side of the tank and out of the floor. This may be kinked or blocked.

the bang is the tank front popping in and out on pressurising

This was very helpful, I filled the car full today... Wouldnt start! Waited a bit and tried a couple of times ... Starter didnt turn, just nothing. Then suddenly ok. It starts when very hot no problem, just not with a brimfull tank wink

Also wondered what that bang was! Thanks smile
