After a good run down through the UK and on to Le Mans (brilliant weekend thanks to all those involved with the club) the steering really tightened up at a couple of points on the rotation if you know what I mean. Folllowing day though, when cool, all was ok, and it remained ok during the time on track. Coming home however the same occured but the following day when cool all was back to normal. At one point I did go to check the power steering res and the cap (ally one) was b---y hot. The level though was ok. I've since had the car jacked up and been underneath & nothing is jumping out at me. There've been no previous issues in the last 6 years of ownership - does anyone have any ideas please (other than the steering rack being on its way out)?

Many thanks

Mike

I had this, put a load of lube on the top UJ which seems to have fixed the problem for now - though many posts on here will say that this means the UJ needs replacing.

when i removed my top UJ, it had a little movement, but needed a hammer to make it go any further. no wonder the steering felt tight on occasion

Thanks guys, I've lubed mine up as well but you can't tell if the tightening is going to happen anyway until after a long run. I'll just replace them when I've a little time - who's the best supplier? And also, any little tricks when doing them?

Cheers

Mike
