Hi...hoping for some advice. After sitting in my garage for the last year, i went to start my 96 p reg chim today. It had about 1/4 tank in it from last year which was siphoned and replaced with new super nleaded last week. Battery had been on trickel charge and was tested and was sound. After deactivating the immobiliser and turning the ignition key, the engine cranks over but no ignition. Took the plugs out to check them and fhere is a spark. At a loss as to what the issue is. I dont thnk its the starter motor as i wouldnt even get it to crank over if it was. Could it be a fuel pump or filter issue as it has sat for 12 months? Can anyoje direct me to where the filter is located. Sad to say its been too long since it was last used which im psying for now! Cany advice would be appreciated.
Thanks. JK

are you sure the fuel pump is kicking in,check the pump relay they can stick after a long lay up .the filter is tucked inside the nearside rear suspension justabove the top wishbone inner mount

Might the engine be flooded?

I first time I flooded the engine I could not get it started and ended up calling the AA. The patrol man had me try to start the car on full throttle for over 60 seconds. Towards the end the engine coughed, spluttered and then fired up!

I've stalled a good number of times and re-starting on full throttle for as long as it takes has worked.

I think the full throttle thing is to get air through the engine and blow out and liquid fuel.

I'd go with fuel pump, relay/fuse in the passenger footwell - Good Luck! lol

(2 Silver ones, 1 Fuel, 1 Ignition)

But, as previously said, you would/should hear the pump prime on ignition. (Worst thing I ever did was fit a spangly new super quiet pump!)

We TVR owners do like to spend a lot of time with our cars, but sitting in the garage for a whole year is taking automotive devotion to extremes I feel. Didn't you get cold and hungry?

Whatever you said to your wife, surely she will have forgiven you by now and you can go back inside?

That depends on whether the previous conversation went along the lines of...

[Mrs whazzinit] "You love that car more than you love me - well I've had enough - make a choice - the car or me!"

[whazzinit] "Cool - I'll miss you but pop the keys through the letterbox when you've cleared out your sh*t..."

hehe
