Sticky gear change when hot
Discussion
I have done a search but most things point to a fluid leak in the hydraulics. I have checked mine and the fluid is full to the brim. The master cylinder and associated pipework looks brand new so I wouldn't be surprised if it has been done in the last year or so.
The problem is have is when the car is hot, it can be sticky shifting gears - particularly 3/4 and back. Nothing too bad and there are no crunches but it does need a good shove sometimes.
I have attempted to get the centre console off but there is a rounded screw head that needs drilling out before I can think about greasing the linkage.
Will a gearbox oil change help and should I keep with the recommended ATF or go for a more conventional gear oil? How easy is it to change the gear oil?
It is a late 2000 Chimaera with the BW T5 'box.

A gearoil change with ATF will help. I also added a lube for slickening gearchanges, that helped! Cant remember what it was called... If you contact MF Cars in belgium, they will tell you what it is...
I agree. A fluid change will make it much smoother usually. Stick with a good ATF like Motul MULTI ATF. This would be the first thing I’d try. If you get the center console off check the condition of the plastic / poly bushes on the shift mechanism too.I swear my garage has changed the gearbox. The fluid change has transformed the shift quality so to anyone with a sticky change, get the fluid replaced.
I got the diff done at the same time and it's oil (as was the gearbox's) was very manky.

I had a new clutch fitted last week and I asked the garage to check for a reason I had a sticky gear change. They cleaned and greased the plastic coupling and it appears to be fine now. Having said that its harder to get into reverse now......Trevor let me know if the lube change work's as I have been having the same issue's with mine.
