Don't understand how they will fit - anything bigger than 40 aspect ratio on a 17 inch wheel catches on the wheel arches on mine

Will post a pic of 17" SP12's with 300mm discs tomorrow as she has been. Away having Gaz golds fitted all week.
Lovely weather since I dropped her off, tomorrow's forecast .... banghead

Bad idea if you want to continue to enjoy your driving on the road. Lots of unsprung/rotating weight and the tiny aspect ratio needed for the tyres to have a chance of fitting in the wheelwells without rubbing on anything, will serve to amplify every little bumpsteer/tramline tendency etc.

Unless you have the engineering resources to basically redesign the entire suspension geometry to suit, I can't see the result being anything but deeply unpleasant to drive on UK roads.

If aesthetics are your main concern, I'd go for 17" fronts/ 18" rears (as per SP12) as an absolute maximum, wheel selection (correct offsets, weight) will be paramount. Bolting sodding big, bling rimz that were meant to go on an A8 or Lexus that has reached the stage where it is mainly seen in the less savoury parts of town, is always going to end badly.

I know its off topic and not a 18 or 19 inch wheel but bigger brakes can be fitted to 16" spiders and Tuscan AP calipers, but its a very tight fit about 2mm clearance, but makes the 300mm disc look mahusive smile.

yes 50 profile front, 45 rear - sensible enough smile

Would prefer a 2-piece disc at this size, but I do 'get' the cost factor...

You can fit 330mm discs under a 17" rim.

225/45 on a 17 inch wheel caught on the wheel arch on mine - wheels must have been too wide. Changed to 205/40 and all was well. Couldn't give a stuff what they look like, just what they feel like. But here is what the 225/45's on the rear looked like before I changed them.

I have a 99t Chimaera 400. As in portzi's post, I for some time have wished to replicate the 5 stud 16” front wheel over a TVR branded callipers set up, (hopefully not intending to hi-jack this thread so would you PM me) would someone please give me some advice on the following.

A) Did you fit the 5 stud hubs yourself and where did you get them from?
B) I intend to fit 16” fronts with the TVR branded callipers; I believe these are AP items. I am not sure if these are current supply items, can you advise what part/where I can source the component kit required?
C) If you had them fitted by a specialist can you pass on their contact details?

Hi Earny,
I bought the car with the hub conversion already fitted. Look under thread "Chassis porn at willow sportscars". The hubs are just drilled to 114mm PCD to suite the tuscan size for the spiders. The down side of this conversion it leaves very little metal between stud and outer hub.
I made the caliper brackets myself at work, and have to shim the pads out by 3mm on each caliper to centralise to the disk. but I think someone like power are doing them. I got the calipers from a local TVR parts supplier, and nick fitted them, have a read of the thread. I have seen many chimaera's with it done on 18 " spiders and looks well, but not on 16" its a tight fit smile. Nick Day at Willowsports cars did mine as a trial as it was his first and it worked well. But if you source the parts its an easy fit by any compotent monkey with a spanner smile.
