Misfire cured. Thanks Austec!!

For about 3 months my car has been gradually getting more and more lumpy to the point where it was hesitating under all conditions when the engine was hot. Tried changing the leads, plugs and coil, checked everything I could but in the end I assumed that it came down to being either a faulty injector, Hego sensor problems or a distributor problem.
So I booked it into Austec Racing to get it sorted.
Turned up at about 11.30am yesterday and they started work, the car was warm from a good run down from the dark lands of North Essex so all the problems were showing themselves.
After carrying out emissions, compression and leakage tests etc it was looking like it was No.1 injector was possibly sticking open as they took the electrical lead off and nothing changed in the engine note!
But before ripping out the injectors for a check and potential rebuild the technician decided to change the leads and cap for a new set. Amazingly all was cured!! Just to be sure he put the old leads and cap back on and the problem re-appeared instantly.
The thing is here that the leads which had only done about 2500 miles were of good quality, but because they were not capable of taking the extreme heat loads present under the bonnet, they were not performing well enough to ignite and burn the fuel completely with a hot engine bay.
The work was complete by 3pm and I've now got a set of nice blue Magnecor leads fitted (colour co-ordinated to the car!) and just need to change the dizzy cap to finish. The car is now going better than it ever has.
