Ordered plenum spacer last week (25th) from SC power, had automated response from paypal saying payment accepted and completed but nothing from SC power, tried email and customer phone number just rings out..... anyone on forum from SC power?.
I have no idea if order acknowledged, processed or any sort of delivery time.
looking at other threads this doesn't seem to be their usual level of service ?

Hope there isnt an issue. I have also ordered the spacer and gasket, and sent them my trumpet base to have the trumpets installed by them. Not had it back yet......

Fair enough if on holiday, but U would think put something on website. Sent email to all 3 different address, see what if anything happens. Paid by pay pal so can get money back if goods not delivered etc just a hassle. Lets just hope they are busy!

All good!
Email:

Mr Lees

So sorry for the service you have received from us.

I did actually think that your order had gone out. What with moving house and office last week I have not always been able to get to the phone. If you can leave a message in future then I will always try to return all calls the same day.

I will package up your items and get them in the post for you today.

Again im very sorry for missing your order and if you have any problems getting hold of us in the future then you can always try me direct on my mobile

To be fair we moved recently and we forgot the cat ( shame!),left all the phones plugged in and most of the plants the Mrs wanted from the garden. Not suprised they over-looked a plenum spacer.

All sorted and in the post, looking forward to fitting it. David from SC power has been very helpful and has got it all sorted asap today.

looking at the supercharger kit......... must resist ! biggrin

Insulator seems a good idea but has there been any back to back dynos with the spacer fitted ..

Seems alot of money for a cut down bread board !

The use of a bread board - Is this one of those famous myths that's been going around for years, or did someone actually do just that?

£90 plus vat for the spacer alone .

I purchased the cheap thin insulator from Power, told me they don`t sell the anymore because the thin ones don`t work ! they do make a good seal if anything ..

Not dyno'd but I fitted a spacer to my car, went for a blast, came back, took it off and threw it in the bin.
Also, isn't the extra volume of air the wrong side of the throttle?

Spot on, its not an air reservoir as such, but it might just reduce some of the cross contamiation between cyclinders during valve overlap at low RPM as you have a larger volume just above the trumpet. Thinking about it logically if you want instant power when you snap open the throttle, the first thing you have to do is fill a now larger area with air before it even gets into the trumpets, I really cant see the advantage. It certainly wont produce more power as such as you have not impoved the gas flow -unless you count a bigger space between the plenum top and trumpet mouths that is.

I have a standard 4l and have been looking at ACT smooth bore intake with K&N, which I then started looking at trumpets. are these good up grades or is cutting the trumpets just as good?

Pretty sure Jools did some back to back testing on his rolling road a few years back.

The spacer is easy to fit with no modifications required. When fitted the plenum top still fits under the existing bonnet lines and windshield lower mesh of the Griffith and Chimaera.

Dyno results have demonstrated an increase in performance of 3hp/4ft lbs of torque.

bumf from website also says larger engines cars benefit more so hopefully mine being 4.5 will make a difference. Thought id try it out as car has act induction, gasket and carbon trumpets but no spacer. Been told smoother idle which was the aim not the extra 3 BHP.
Also are the plenum cover bolts hex's

So that is about the same as a new set of plugs then... wink

I would not blame the plenum for an unstable idle in its own right, the biggest issue is the slow lambda cycling to keep the mixture in trim. You get some pretty wide mixture shifts and it tends to be a little lean, that cause that irregular pulsing. You can get a much smoother idle with on the non catalyst fuel map where the mixture is fixed.
