Evening All

my insurance is up for renewal and I'm wondering who other people are with that give track day cover. To be honest i've never done insurance all that properly like declaring all mods etc. But i've spent so much time+money I want to make sure now I'm properly covered.

Do you have to declare all mods even none performance related ones like changing interior etc?
I'm with Adrian Flux as they were cheapest last year. It's gone up this year to about £370 I think.
Thats fully comp, windscreen and legal cover. 28 years old and car parked on my drive, limited milage to, about 5000 i think.
Agreed valuation is from last year at £7k (abouts?) I have no idea how much it's worth now or what to insure it for. Do you need to get the agreed value spot on or do they go against current market value if the worst comes to worst.

Having track day cover interests me, maybe i'd only use it couple times a year though so I might be better off getting one offs?

What are other peoples premiums like if you don't mind me asking?
I'm going to ring around some places tomorrow just to check prices I think but don't really have any expericence with firms for classic insurance other than ad flux

No mods on mine. Agreed value required an expert to value it, so decided I couldn't be bothered.

All interesting reading, I pay with 1st central nearly 700 as my current insurance company wont cover a 2nd car which has no NCB ie the Chim, the quote from Adrian Flux 620 its all daft as over 45,,, with no convictions or claims

Is your normal insurance expensive too Kenny? I wouldn't have thought that Edinburgh was a danger area for insurers, all seemed most respectful and gentle last time I was there.
Mannings don't need an NCB on a classic policy (i offered them one and they turned it down), and it doesn't even need to be limited mileage. My price was for 5000 miles a year, but they do do an unlimited policy. Sounds like you need to get on the phone. there is a list of all relevant insurers on the general forum

Yes - declare EVERYTHING - performance-related or not.

Changing the interior may make the car more desirable to thieves, or mean that they have to pay out more in the event of repairs - therefore this non-performance alteration may affect your premium. etc etc

I have heard that they view a lot of "safety" mods eg. uprated brakes, rollcage etc, as indication of driving temperament - unsure if this is true though.

You should even declare if you run different tyres than the originally-spec'ed OE make/model... (Bridgestone SOxx... or something?)

Any which way - everything on the car which has been changed since it came from the factory should be declared, or they can have grounds to void your insurance in the event of a claim = ie. you are uninsured.

Especially the tyres! This is the first thing the insurers will home in on, in the event of a claim.

It really is better to claim all mods. Very often most of them won't effect the premium but you must tell your insurer to be properly covered.

The clue is in the question: 'Has the vehicle been modified in any way?' smile
