Hi,
I wonder if I can ask for some advice from experienced TVR onwers over a couple of niggles I need to sort out for my '97 Chim:
1) How do you sort out squeeky breaks? They've been like that ever since the last service last september. Tried driving whilst light breaking etc.
2) One of the main bulbs have gone. Full beam is ok. As the original bulbs are awful can anyone recommend a bulb upgrade? (I'm not skilled enough to do a Lupo upgrade). I dread changing the bulb again...
3) Leaking PAS fluid from the power steering pump? Are they easy enough to replace yourself?
Thanks in advance

Hi
squeaky brakes should be esay enough to sort with careful application of some copper grease on the back of the pads also check that the fixings are secured properly
The leak from the PAS pump is probably the hose between the reservoir and pump. the original tends to leak from the u-bend joints. You can try tightening the clips up but the permanent solution is a new single piece pipe which any hydraulics hose supplier could make up for you if you take them the original along.

As for the lights, you have probably got rusty reflectors.
i had mine replaced and saw an instant result. Mine were done at a garage, so can't tell you how easy it is / is not, but it certainly made a difference. My car is a 2000 and I had these done 2 years ago, roughly at the 10-yr anniversary.

Had to replace the glass anyway (RHD car in a LHD country) and did the reflectors at the same time.
Behind the glass, they didn't look too bad but what chrome it had left, came off if you looked at it in a nasty way.
With the new (now 5.5 years old) reflectors, I never felt that the light output was noticeably worse than any other car with standard halogen bulbs.
Thanks for your responses. I've been out to buy some copper grease and Bush Xenon 120% H4 472 bulbs. I'll let you know what difference they make this weekend.
Also does anyone have any tips on unblocking the washer hoses? I've tried a syringe and boiling water/vinegar but no joy - utterly blocked. Changing the hoses seems a real pain which I'm trying to avoid...

PS, thanks to you I now have the right name for my TVR - "NIGGLES".
I have had 14 faults, mostly minor, in 11 weeks since buying Niggles, the latest being a total loss of reverse gear and thus the gearbox out
Didn't realise you were so new to the fold!I have had 14 faults, mostly minor, in 11 weeks since buying Niggles, the latest being a total loss of reverse gear and thus the gearbox out
I just regard mine as a replacement for the ex-wife ... only this time round I get some pleasure to go along with the grief.

Yes, fraid so - I have just blended in nicely, with having a bald head and a beard. Phil
Been a car nut all my life, its just that Mrs number two actually loves/trusts me enough to let me have some fun of my own choosing, out in the car with the lads.
