Just re attach ht lead no7!!! Had the car a month, and always thought it wasn't quite as fast as a 4.5 should be and was a bit rough / hesitant around 1500- 2000 rpm, but resigned to fact that 15 yr old car and that is just what they are like. Whilst changing coolant sensor my mate waved the ht lead at me!, I definitely checked them ( sheepish cough). Crimped up with pliers as not a great fit ( my excuse!). Now it goes like a tvr should and running very sweet!
What a schmuck!

similar thing , I upset a guy in his s4 convertable. He pulled up in outside lane at lights next to me and went for it when they went green. Bit childish but I gave it the beans and for to the next set first, best thing was as he pulled up again, the rather attractive female passenger exclaimed " wow that car sounds really nice" .Ha! Made my day, S4 man nit happy, and that was all on 7 cylindersbiggrin

My V7 TVR had the number 8 lead loose....otherwise the same story. It went lumpy and smokey on startup, and a week later a friend pushed the lead back on for me, just before he nearly blew a gasket at the state of my fuel pipes, but that's another story. eek

A point of order, Mr Chairman. Not that I am pedantic.......but I am an accountant, after all, and an extra cylinder, when you have been running on 7 is a 14.2% increase in power.....laugh

? Go on show me your working out. All 8 cylinders running = 100%, 100/8 = 12.5. Loose one cylinder loose 12.5%? Or 1/8ths. Even though I am a scientist don't do maths. Having said that 14.7% is higher than 12.5 so I'll take it biggrin

100/7= 14.2. 100 is your baseline running on 7 cylinders, so at the time you put the eighth ignition lead back on you gained 14.2%.

And indeed, at the time you lost the ignition connection to that cylinder you lost 12.5% of power, because at that point running on all 8 was your baseline (100%).

So - you lost 12.5%, then gained 14.2% and you've still returned to the exact same point... hehe

If you unplug them all you will have no power at all. Plug even one in and you have an infinite increase in power. The second one is only a 100% increase over one, the third one a 50% increase over two, etc etc

So if you want to go to infinity (and beyond) then just plug one in.....or all eight at the same time.

shoot

Is it fair to summarise then, that the more plug leads you have connected; the faster you will go? Or have I missed the point here?? smile

Yes, I think that if my Chimaera was an 8 litre W16, it might just be a bit quick

Would also explain why it's running at 120 degrees!

(apologies for the cross thread reference there!)

Took the V7 to work yesterday - 110 miles, plus a couple of demo drives. Had great fun blasting past Golf GTIs etc. Lost it for five minutes in a multi-storey car park - then discovered I was on the wrong floor. Now I know why women like big four by fours - they can see them across the car park!!
Only alarming moment was when the temperature gauge hit 120 degrees at the end of a five minute crawl on an A14 slip road. It's never done that before. In between drives.....I did some maths. laugh

Funnily enough the reason I didn't think the tvr was firing on all cylinders was that my golf gti felt as quick. Mentioned in another thread but golf is 2.0 turbo remapped to around 250 BHP, weighs ? 1350 kg. 4.5 v8 should have felt quicker ,, Now on 8 cylinders it does biggrin. I love the golf but since getting the 4.5 it feels quiet ordinary, easy gear change, light steering and feels like your sat way too high,, oh and I stand next to it fondling the wing mirror wondering why the door doesn't open biggrin

.....and I never tire of saying to friends "Hop in then" and watching while they look for the door handle. Ditto on getting out.....
