HELP -- URGENT !!!! JUST BROKEN DOWN WITH AA MAN

Hi,

with AA man. he says there is no fuel getting through.
just cut out when returning home.

does anyone know when the fuel switch is on a 1996 chimaera 400HC

or perhaps if there is another problem we can look for.

Not sure where the fuels switch is - Relay??

Or of nowt else is working 100 amp fuse on the chassis underneath?

The fuel inertia switch is in the passenger footwell. The AA man should recognise it sTeVeR

aa man found relay thing and it's ok... he is taking out all of the fuses one by one to have a look at them.

100 amp fuse? sorry, could you tell me where this one is?

also, wouldn't the likely failure be in the fuel pump itself...

the big fuse is under the car in the big lead from the battery. It is tiewrapped to the chassis on the nearside behind the front wheelarch. probably corroded or covered in s**t. The AA man will probably agree it is in about the worst place you could put it sTeVeR

I assume the AA man has tried a direct feed to the fueel pump to eliminate that

all sorted... thanks for the advice. aa man tried to direct feed the pump and found that the connector on the fuel pump was loose.

now working. however, he did say that there is a tap-tap-tapping on the manifold which needs to be seen to. he thinks it's ok to drive. also he recommends that i use dinitrol? (i think) underneath to protect it.

Glad its sorted and nothing serious. Dinitrol is merely a chassis protection and is good advice. Waxoyl or old gearbox oil are alternatives but get it done. Its a dirty job so pay a garage todo it. as far as your manifold problem is concerned it is probably just the gaskets need replacing or could be a cracked manifold. Either way get it done asap,it wont fix itself, its annoying and the longer you leave it the worse it will get. sTeVeR
