....or not.

I got owned on the Buttertubs yesterday boxedin One thing I noticed is that the rear of the car was very bouncy over undulating surfaces and I found this rather disconcerting to say the least.

I had a look underneath a couple of weeks ago and the car seems to be on its original springs and shocks (looking quite tired) and today, I noticed one of the rear Bilsteins looks very oily but I need to get the wheel off for a proper look.

I won't be tracking the car (or if I do, not very often) but would like to know what people recommend for fast road use. I am quite happy to replace with OEM springs and dampers again if they are any good new - my car has nearly 60k on the clock.

I would also like a recommendation for fitting. I bought from HHC and am quite happy for them to do the work but hear good things about SSC in Boroughbridge and particularly Track V Road for suspension set up.

There are some topics already but nothing definitive has come up in a proper Google search.

Thanks

Mark.

Some will recommend GGP, others will criticise. I have been very pleased with mine but they do need the car to be properly set up after fitting and settling. If you bought the car from a dealer should they be assisting. Leaking shock is an MOT failure and I would hope not to have to deal with such problems if buying from a specialist. Obviously I am assuming you bought recently and not as a trade sale.

Good luck.

I've had the car well over six months and it has only just become noticeable so it is down to me to sort otherwise it would have been sorted under warranty. It has been driven quite hard since I got it so I would expect a few age related things to show up as the miles go on.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

This. I had GGP's supplied and fitted in "fast road" set up by Dom and his team at TVR Power. Other places (you listed a few) will do equally good work but you need to explain what you want and then have them spend time with you when you collect the car as you do need to drive it and see how it feels to you. Any adjustments can then be made quite easily from the base settings the dealer has set up.

Springs as well and most likely bushes.

That is very kind of you. I am actually in Darlington.

The car is going to HHC at the weekend and I will have a chat with them and see what they recommend.

A set of those is "only" £150 more than a standard set of Eibach/Bilsteins. What is the ride like on Nitrons?

A full set of OEM suspension is £850. Springs £50-70 and shocks £140 or so each plus the bushes.

I have done some research this week and have decided against GGPs.

I have been researching Nitrons and can't find a bad word said about them. The one thing I need to know is what is the ride like?

If I don't get anything definitive then I will get new Billies all round and keep the old ones to get refurbished.

ETA: Thanks for the info but after discussions I have decided to stick with the Bilstein setup with new springs and dampers all round.
