There's always something.......
I seem to have mice in the heater box......chewed insulation and seed husks are coming out of the air vents and the heater fan is akin to an asthmatic blowing through a straw (Thanks for the quote, Jezza).
I do live in the country and the car has been garaged in the stables.
So far i have taken out the passenger footwell air vent and stuck the vacuum cleaner nozzle up there. I have also taken out the panel under the engine air in take sensor. but that leads me nowhere. Does anyone know where the main air intake to the heater is, and also what i have to take apart to be able to stick the vacuum cleaner nozzle into more parts of the heater/air system? If the air intake is big enough, would it be worth shoving the moggie in there too?

I had an issue a couple of years ago with an unwanted guest. Couldnt find the little beast until I bought an ultrasonic mouse repeller! (Robert Dyas or any decent garden centre should stock them)Plugs into the mains and emits a very high pitch screech that we cant hear, however, drives all sorts of pests mad. Within minutes he was off and hasnt been back since! Hope this helps and that it saves your cat the trauma of being shoved up the air intake!
Good luck, James.
Good luck, James.

Thanks James, ultra sound advice. I will have to invest for the future, as we have loads of mice in the stables, and the horses are vegetarians.Good luck, James.
For now, I also need to know how to get into the heater airways so that i can clean them out with the Henry. Any other advisers out there?
Probably not much use now but Peppermint oil or Moth balls are your friend, I would suggest the former
don't get the Peppermint oil on your skin as it s a pain to wash out
it will keep those pesky critters away from your P&J though
actually got this from an American sports car forum and owners out in the sticks swore by it for long term storage
little swabs of it near/in the front air intake would be my 1st port of call
