Crashed Chim...
Discussion
Hey dudes and dudettes...
OK heres the short version. My mate borrowed my Chim and drove her into the central reservation. Result is smashed front n/s wing, smashed rear n/s wing, crack on the rear o/s corner (shockwave damage I guess) two flat tyres and a chipped rear n/s wheel (small chip)...
Now the killer...it transpires he was 3rd party insurance only and we have to get her fixed on a budget (so to speak)...any ideas as to cost?? My mate is being diamond about it and I'm OK with it as he wasn't hurt (which is the main thing).
I live in Dorset so any local ideas would be most welcome! I know some companies do free quotes but will they come to me to view? Also, can garages check chassis alignment in situ or do they need a jig or summat??
If the car is going to be stupid costly to mend I'll sell it as a damaged repairable and get another one

There are a range of GRP specialist body shops around. The one that springs to ming is Webb's or www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk/
Why not phone up and see if you can e-mail digital pictures to get a ball park...although I suspect they'll want to see it.
Sorry to hear of your trouble...

A lesson for us all there!
Indeed.. in fact I'm not aware of any insurance schemes at all that would let anyone drive any car other than the one(s) listed on the policy with anything more than Third Party liability.. otherwise we'd all buy morris minors, insure them, and drive the TVR's on that insurance Fully Comp.
Bad luck all the same.
Cheers
Matt
I had simular damage just to the front of my Chim last Xmas, and it cost £1500 for the repair. Mind you, another place quoted me £4000, but that was if it went through the insurance.
I had a headlight upgrade at the same time and that was an extra £1300.

Hope you get it sorted without and hassle mate, I know it's a downer.
tvrbodyshop.co.uk are well respected although it won't be the cheapest there.

Actually, my garage policy allows this- not just when in work. Just as well- but never needed it though touch wood....
Sad to see the state of the Chim though... hope it works out.
