Taken the Plunge
Discussion
Hi guys,
Following on from my "daily driver, realistic option" post:
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
Just a quick thanks for all of the positive comments which finally persuaded me to buy a Chimaera as a second car.
I picked it up last week and absolutely love it. It comes with a few niggles but hopefully after some forum hunting and searching through the bible I (or my mechanic father) should be able to sort the majority.
'97 plate 450 Chimaera.
British Racing Green with a cream and black interior.
Based in either Bedfordshire or Hampshire
Current concerns:
1. Fuel leak in the bottom LH corner of the boot.
2. Re-stitching of the plastic to the fabric at the crease line of the rear roof.
3. Cannot start on the key when hot or even mildly warm
3a. Immobilizer bypassed with a fuel pump switch and starter button fitted directly to s/motor.
4. Interior could do with a clean.
5. Requires some TLC and a good stage 0 service.
Hopefully I/we can sort the issues in time for the Sunday Service at the end of the month
Regards,
Dan

1. Get Dad onto that straight away.
2. Hood may have to be replaced.
3. Common TVR fault, due to everything getting hot, a missing relay and poor quality components. Basically, heat stops the current flowing to the starter. Either get the hot start mod from Modwise (£40), which is a relay you wire in, or be prepared to wait 15 minutes every time you turn the engine off before you can restart.
You have a cracking engine there - have fun!
I will see you at the Sunday Service on 26th, unless it's traditional UK bank holiday weekend weather!!
Mine will be the bog standard navy blue V reg Chim 400 that was doing 140 round Marham last weekend - and no, I am not proud of that slide out of the hairpin, or the change down to second gear mid-corner later in the lap!! First lap out of the pits in the afternoon session, after the track had just been reversed, are my excuses........
