Hi folks, took a close look at my tyres yesterday when giving the car an oil change, all remain legal but overall the fronts are getting a bit leggy.

I freely admit they are nearly ready for replacement but I did notice the inner edges were showing possible signs of a little two much negative camber?

I have Goodyear Eagle FI GSD3, those familiar with this tyre will know they do have a tread pattern that thins out significantly at the edges which can show up edge wear quite early on.

Add to this to the fact the overall tread is getting low anyway I'm not overly concerned, but with an inch or more of bald at both the inner edges I thought I better check the camber anyway before I put some new boots on.

I've got -0.34 on the N/S and -0.40 on the O/S, which doesn't seem wildly out to me?

Do Chims tend to run out the inner edges first when the tyre tread is getting low, or do my camber settings need a slight tweak?

Thoughts ears

they need a tweek should be around 0.25 negative camber depending on the tyre

That was with 1 1/2 deg neg camber, half a day with a race instructer = 4 illegal tyres to drive home on!

looks like you need more camber on track, but it would be a pain to keep adjusting it for road and track driving.

On this post over in medallion/chest wig land:

The consensus seems to be -0.5 to -0.75.

But given what my tyre wear is telling me, MADMAX2's -0.25 sounds about right.

As previously stated I currently have -0.34 on the N/S, and -0.40 on the O/S.

The O/S is certainly showing slightly worse neg camber related wear than the N/S, further supporting the argument to bring both closer to zero.

Unless I hear otherwise I'm moving to -0.25 to save the new tyres.

Out of interest what front camber settings are everyone else running?

That was a special day at Keevil airdrome track, no one else around and was drifting the car at over the ton, (absolutely impossible with road tyres, triple 8's have sooo much feel!)

4 hours of non stop driving under the cosh of an instructor, happy days smile.

I'd wager it's not your camber settings killing your tyres, it's not enough toe in. Or your car was set up with gauges that werent calibrated or something. Camber doesnt kill tyres as long as the toe is right. Camber just biases towards the inner edge of the tyre whereas insufficient toe, or worse still toe out, drags the inner edge down the road wearing it away far quicker.

+1, I reckon you need a fraction of toe in Dave, about 20-30 minutes iirc.

Hmmmmmmm scratchchin

I initially thought there may be too much toe out when I first spotted the early signs inner edge wear.

So I had it checked & she's only toeing out by 10 minutes, track rod ends & wishbone bushes are all good too.

This led me to look at the camber.

TBH I'm quite fussy & the wear isn't horrible at all, but it does need adjusting out, I'll get it on my local Hunter Hawkeye.

Hi Dave Here are is the data from my setup seems that I have a little too much negative camber, I was watching the guy source the data from a very comprehensive base including other UK marks and US models, think next time I will ask for a little less, but what do I know, I’m used to off road dirt tracks not road and race tracks.
