Servicing Records for cars over 60k
Discussion
Hi Guys and Gals,
Firstly, I d like to apologise if my post here turns out to be a little lengthy!! ANyway here goes....
My '95 Chim is just about to go in for her 72k service. Last time I got her serviced, I noticed that there were no remaining blank servicing record forms in my owners manual. Therefore I called TVR and they sent me a blank form so I could record my sevice. This time, however, they have refused. I ve been told that there are only two ways that I can continue updating my service records from now on -
a) Always get the car serviced at a main dealer, as the dealers are provided with blank service record forms.
b) Purchase, for the princely sum of £50, an entirely new owners manual, and take the records out of that for future use...
OK. Lets take a look (naturally, from my own perspective..!) at these options.
a) I simply cannot afford to pay the bills that are associated with a main dealers servicing. However, I don t see that i should be penalised for that...
b) The 'extremely helpful' man I spoke to at TVR told me that since my Chim is a Mark 1, I would only be able to buy a Mark 2 manaul anyway. SO, not only would I have to pay £50 for a manual I neither need nor particualrly want, but even if I did decide to replace my old with a nice new shiny one it would not be entirely relevent anyway. (When I said "i'm not being funny here - but there must be another way!!" he replied - you're just trying to save yourself £50 pounbds aren't you?. Actually, YES, thats exactly what I am trying to do.
Has anyone else come across this problem? How have you overcome it? Does it still matter massivley to have proper service authentication in a 72k old car (surely it does...)? Am I being a total pillock by having a whinge about this? (come on tell me - i can take it). I just can t help feeling that TVR are effectively telling me that if I don t service my car with a main dealer then they are not interesetd. However, I feel that they should remain obligated to aid their existing customers in certain areas, even if they do not stand to make immediate gains themselves. After all, if you keep the customer happy he is far more likely to buy another TVR in the future....
I d be interested to hear what you all think.
Thanks a lot. Kev.

Same again! A reputable Independent took care of "finding" some to ensure a consistent record.
I think it's a common issue that's regularly overcome in this way. The idea of paying for a new book sounds well money-grabbing!!!
Perhaps TVRs weer only envisaged to have a limited life anyway!

I had the same thing with my Griff. Tried all sort of approaches. Eventually got hold of Silverstone TVR who managed to get the artwork from the factory & hey presto....service cards....best of all F.O.C-
They've been very helpful & cannot praise them enough (even although the servicing was done at a recognised independant specialist).
