A Good first week
Discussion
I picked up the car last Monday and have enjoyed a good first week in the Chimaera particularly as the weather has behaved itself for a change. It's been a bit of a learning curve though, but fortunately I can now get it into reverse without waking the neighbours and (almost) put the handbrake on and off without dislocating my shoulder! ;-)
I even made it to BNG 2012 but only on the Sunday afternoon so unfortunately missed all the fun happening on Saturday. I managed to take a few photographs http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wnoble/bng/bng2012.ht... and make no apologies for there being quite a few of R985 TCF. :-)
Now for some help please. The rubber seal around the roof hoop has perished where the door closed on it and a piece around 40mm has fallen off. (See photo) The seal obviousley needs replacing but on the original a piece of the rubber extended beyond the point that the door closed. Is this normal and should I replicate it when I replace the seal?

My '99 chim has the rubber extensions on (until one fell off that is). It looks like it would help with sealing against water ingress and might also stop wind whistling through the gap if not present.JonathanT said:

Thanks for responding. I've not experienced any whistling but it's not been out in the rain yet. Looks like I'll just have to order the rubber seal and see if I can fit it in a similar fashion.Quietlybonkers said:
Love your photos of your own car. Looks spectacular, and a car to be proud of. The words "polished", "inch", "life" and "within" need to be included in the next sentence.
Thank you for your comments. In a fit of enthusiasm I spent a happy date trying out Autoglym's new formulation of their Super Resin Polish. I was quite impressed. There doesn't appear to be as much polish dust about as on the old version. Also thanks for your advise on the handbrake issue. As I said it's a learning curve but I'm getting there! :-)
