Has anyone used EBC red or yellow stuff pads? What were your impressions? Do you recommend any other type of pad for fast road use?

Thanks

I've got Red stuff on the front of my Chim. They need a bit of warming up to get the best out of them, but TBH they work fine cold too.

I've done a couple of track days with them and they're good for such an event wink

I have the yellow stuff pads ,very happy with them ,worked well on the track and great for the raod because you don`t need to wait for the warm up..

OK they`re not to the same standard as the DS2500 but they work for me .The only down side is thet make a bit of dust on the wheels..

+1 for red stuff from me.
As said need to be a bit warm for best performance but still fine for day to day driving.
Dust is manageable but does need regular cleaning.

Green stuff pads are not listed for TVR`s but i did use them on the standard braking system ,think there just one up from standard decent quality road pads ..

Try the yellow stuff pads ,they are in between the green and red , no worries about having to get them hot, work well from cold ..

Trouble with the reds is if you have been on the motor way for a while the your brakes can be poor.

i find the reds to be very dusty, but it washes off easily unlike pads i've had in the past so isn't a problem really, quick hose pipe down

Did you find the DS2500 worked better when cold?

I've used yellows for quite a while and definitely noticed that bite from cold can be iff. Only negative with then IMO, otherwise been impressed but be wary of sailing up to junctions etc on cold rainy mornings smile

Yes but they are very expensive ! standard good quality pads will work even better than DS2500 from cold but they can`t take track use ..

I think you've got these the wrong way round.

According to EBC the red stuff pads are less extreme than the yellow ones.
Yellow ones are definately more of a track day pad. Red stuff - fast street.

Red Stuff are great road pads, but not suitable for trackdays (that's from EBC themselves).

Yellowstuff are superb trackday pads and have plenty of bite for the road too.

Agreed,

I think yellow stuff are best when a bit hot - so I wouldn't put them on a day to day road car. ````in all honesty though I don't know how much of a problem it would be.

I have just fitted yellow stuff pads to my P38 Rangie, replacing green stuff, much better bite and braking from cold, haven't tried them in anger yet but will up date later. I found the green stuff faded quite easily after hooning around one day, resulting in an oh f?&@ at the next roundabout I came to. Good fun though.

I have the red stuff, and as said before you have to be a little aware when they are cold, but when warm are really good and they improve the hotter they get, not sure at what point they will fade as have not done a track day. One thing is in the wet they take a lot, lot longer to warm up. But on a whole the pros outway the cons and dust not too bad.

Good pads but the dust does get on your nerves .

I've got yellowstuffs and they work great from cold and have a much better peddle feel than standard.

The pressure I require on the brake pedal is certainly less than I needed before and the control is also much better.

(I may have had worn pads and discs before though so that will count for some of it. smile)

They must have improved drastically over the years!!! We ran some once on out mgb v8 racer. Car looked awesome after 20mins of Cadwell Park (like itd finished 24hrs le mans race!!) But it didn't stop at all. Slowed down yes but not good.... EBC blamed the calipers (willwoods) but a change to ferodo ds3000 and no more issues! Car stopped superbly! I wouldnt touch them if you paid me!! Ferodo all the way! On old taz racer we ran ds2500 and bite from cold superb! Not too expensive either... :-)

I was sceptical until I fitted the yellowstuffs and was thinking of going with Ferodo's. The fact that Ferodo's aren't certified for road use swayed me to the EBC's

From what I read, the compound changed dramatically about 2 years ago and they are now chalk and cheese to the old compound. Unfortunately reputations are made very quickly (from the old compounds) and will take a long time to change.

I can't comment on the redstuff as I haven't used them.
