I have bought a new handbrake cable and was just going to change on the floor in my garage but I had the car over a pit at weekend and it looks a bit of a pig to get to. would I be better doing it on the pit and does the exhaust need to come off?

exhaust off is easier, and 2 hrs tops

I changed mine with the exhaust still in situ.

You need to remove the tunnel trim and access cover though and I used the old cable as a draw wire.
