The windows on our 1999 Chim have taken on a life of their own. Both will close simultaneously without any input from the driver. As they are both 'auto-closing' at the same time I guess there is a common issue. Is there an electric window relay and where? The diagram in the owners manual is no help.

on my car the the control box for the windows is under the dash up behind the boot release boot, it is a big heavy metal block.
Are you sure there is not a problem with the window switches, I would check all the connections first.

The windows motor up and down ok and The switches work in the correct sense. I originally thought the problem was with the drivers side but today when I left both windows partly open, keys out ignition off, both windows suddenly motored up without being commanded. This has now happened a few times in the last couple of hours.

I have looked in the drivers door behind the speaker and have found the motor and connecting plug but nothing else of interest. There is a lot of condensation around (after we left it out in the rain uncovered it leaked a bit which is why I wanted to leave the windows open.)

Next stop is as suggested under the dash.

Sometimes the relay is tied to the bottom of the window frame inside the door, " Where's Spendy when you need him"

Just as a pointer,I have a 2000 450, no relays in my doors but my alarm has window auto closing on it, it is a Meta as fitted originally, could it be this that is causing your issues

Good point. I haven't noticed the Meta auto closing the windows before, but then again I might not have tried it!

The car is under a cover at the moment hiding from the rain. I will intentionally set the alarm with the windows open as soon as the weather permits.
