round and round.... (more heater issues)
Discussion
I can never get cold/outside temp, air into the car and after reading some of the threads on the heaters decided to have a go and see what the problem is.
After ending up in some very odd positions I've found that the motor controlling the water valve to the matrix never stops with the white marks lined up, indicating cold air. Infact it just keeps going round and round and round - How do I stop this from happening?

mine did this for some time before the motor burnt itself out. The fault seems to be from the switches on the dash, which wear meaning the vibration of the car causes and breaks contact. This leads to knackering (technical term) the hot/cold motor. Only answer new switches and motor - but bear in mind you'll never get cold air from it as you are just too near that big engine....

there is a 10k variable resistor on the valve that tells the controller where it is. If you have a soldering iron i have a spare. Let me know.
Dave, silly question; but where if the Var resistor?
I removed the glove box, and looking directly at it (out towards the front of the car), I can see the motor - which drives a very small shaft, about 1-2cm, which inturn - turns the valve - no sign of any Var resistor. The motor has power (black & red leads running to it) and to the side a small white block with a green & blue wire, is this it?
