I've gone from 17 all round 215s on the front

To standard 15 and 16 Estorills with 215s on the front with Toyo 888 all round in v good condition

Problem is car seems a bit all over the place and often feels as though it is tramlining,a little bouncy which just needs the Gaz Golds stiffening i think?

Am i missing something here, thought standard wheels would not be an issue,or is it i need to sort the suspension set up from 17 all round to 15 and 16?

Tramlining can be induced by worn tyres, max tread allows the tread to squirm and follow the road, worn tread gives tramlining.

By the same token, higher profile tyres are less likely to tramline.

So worst cases are, low profile, wider tyres with little tread!

Your new wheels should give less problems if the tyres are good.

Just a thought, with 17's all round were the profiles 35 or 40 ? yet now with 15/16 its 45 and 50 ?

If so. then you've got much deeper side walls which will flex more now than before making the whole setup 'softer' than before.

I didn't read the first post thoroughly!

You now have triple 8s with a max of 5mm tread and not many grooves, these do tramline.

Make sure you are running about 22/24 psi.

Also, I found if you have P/S there is less tramlining.

45/50/55 Is just the percentage of the width of the tyre .

I would say more like 50% and 55% for 15/ 16" wheel.

What size are your rear tyres ?

These would of been perfect for your setup ..I would buy them straight away if i were on 15 and 16" tyres .Good tread and not far off the triple 8`s

Snap them up

888 215 on front
888 245 on rear

Tyres are like new with very little wear.

888s don't have a huge detailed tread on them but only hear good reports on them.

Do I need to change fronts to T1r's,just seems a shame when the treads are good.

Hoping to change to PAS in next week or so.

I'm running Estorils but 16" all round and the tramlining I experienced with the 15" was all but eliminated with the change. I've got PAS and am running 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 T1Rs.

Shocks are Nitrons and after being rebuilt recently the handling/ride was transformed.

ETA I wouldn't recommend mixing the tyre types.

Perhaps keep the 888s as trackday tyres? Although I did see a thread that said 888s weren't road legal anymore, although I haven't read it.

What is the date stamp on the 888's? If they are dated '06 or earlier they will be well past their best. Plus 888's do have a tendency to tramline and are much more suited to track day use than the roads in the UK. David.

Problem with those Track day tyres is the lack of sizes ,i tried to replace my 16/17" setup with federal RSR`s i could not find anything close .

Nice use of English.

You have changed from low profile rubber to high and wonder why it 'feels more bouncy'.

Just a bit more 'give' in the new tyres don't you think?
