I have a long way to go before my car is tip top so here we go with another question. The car has had a bodged job of a twin fan install. The wiring is mashed together with no connectors or solder with one of the mashed up joints over heating melting the insulating tape around it. Since I have driven the car over the past few weeks I cannot see the need for the extra fans and have decided to remove them. The wiring is not been done correctly and has a permanent live going direct to the on and off switches. On removing the wiring I have noticed my boot release has stopped working and no doubt the wiring for that was mashed in with the fans somehow. What i am looking for is how the wiring for the boot release switch is connected....does it go via a relay in the engine bay? Is there a relay involved? Any ideas on how to put my boot release wiring back together within the engine bay is most welcome

On my 1998 chim there is no relay in the boot release wiring and all the wiring is in the car. There is a feed from the ignition switch (you need the ignition on to open the boot) to the switch under the dash and that goes straight off to the release solonoid in the boot.

Just out of interest, what twin fans are you talking about?

Finally worked it out.....The boot release live wire had been disconnected at the ignition switch to wire into the fans? After taking out all the fan wiring today and reconnecting the live from the button back into the ignition all is working as it should....
