Boot release

G'day all

Help!

I've caught the dreaded faulty boot release 'lergy.

Naturally I have less than 1/4 tank of fuel left, my bible is still on order, and the owner's manual is in...that's right...the boot.

Would somebody be kind enough to email me the secret to getting it open?

I am hearing a click from the rear when I press the button, but it won't release. Multiple presses of the button don't seem to help.

Solution emailed to me privately and boot is now open and tank full.

Next task is to work out how to fix the mechanism before locking it again.

Electrical components seem to be OK, but the spring and latch assembly had let go of the cable when I got it open, and I'm puzzled as to how to re-attach it. There is some funny-looking bit of metal attached to the end of the cable that appears to have been welded together to make it all work, but when I attach the return spring to it, it remains loose and not under tension (which doesn't seem right).

Bit of a mystery to this TVR inductee.

jeffo, on folding back the lever cover, you should see if the cable from the solenoid passes through the opener lever. It is secured with a large washer with a screw in it. If this has worked loose, cable will not pull the lever when solenoid is actuated.
Assuming this screw-washer has fallen off, then a good fix would be to thread the cable back through the hole in the lever, and secure with a large electrical choc-box connector.

I think I get the picture now.

The funny-looking bit of metal attached to the cable must be the lever. This is no longer attached to the latch bracket.

I will attempt to reattach this when I get a minute to myself and see what happens.
