A cheap alternative to the various conversions or new reflectors from TVR sources. Find your nearest Hella stockist and buy Two Headlight Inserts part no. 1L6 002.395-261 remove old rusted reflector from car and cut the bulb holder and back of relector off the new unit above then fits perfectly inside old reflector, fix with silicon or similar and fit assembly back into car using existing fitings. Refit original headlight glass and you are back to original, no cutting or conversions to bodywork needed and it looks original. Cost of the two reflectors about £50.

Im more than interested. I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to the re chroming of the original reflectors. This could just be it! More info on installation including the pics would be most appreciated.

Best I can do at the moment with pictures, but you get the idea. The best quote I got for resilvering my reflectors was £80 each + vat, hence my quest for a cheaper fix.

Apologies to the OP for the thread hijack (I'll be quick, promise) but does anyone know the best place to buy complete headlight units exactly as the originals? I seem to remember seeing some at a well known parts supplier for around £150 per side for bowls and lenses but may be wrong, or if that's right it may not be the cheapest. The car could be going to a paintshop for front end respray so the easiest option for me would be to send her in with new headlights in the boot ready for fitting.

I just see that the lights are the same as from the Cerbera?

aren't there complete new units say from hella in the same size for not that much money?

don't know what they cost but hella also sells a lot more classic headlights, I guess like those?

but do not know how big the Chimaera/Cerbera lights are.

Mines a daily driver, I can do without waiting a week or 2 for these to get re-chromed so this option of replacing them is of real interest, and while they arent at a critical point right now you can almost watch them getting duller on a daily basis.

I rather suspect it is (too good to be true) and that these are replacements for the 7" sealed beam units that used to be fitted to most British cars in the 60s and 70s. It won't be a direct replacement, but it would be interesting if they could be 'made' to fit neatly. I can't believe this hasn't been tried before though.
