Caerbont gauge
Discussion
Can anyone confirm the guages with the silver bezel fitted to the serp cars have Caerbont gauges.
Just purchased a sender from Ebay but it does not work so fitted the old one which has a slight leak but it works .
The seller wants to know the correct part number for this sender .. they are also forsale on classifieds.

Yes those are Caerbont. Give them a ring if you need any assistance, you'll have an answer sometime in 2036

bring on the banter
Im now having problems with the second one !
The first one read 0 the second one reads 90 and moves down to 80 like a Yoyo.
When the Land Rover one is fitted it works fine but requires an adapter whick leaks so thought a new one would do the job ..
What next.
Im wondering if two wraps of PTFE has anything to do with it !

just going through the topic again, i'd guess we are talking about the temp gauge?
if the temp gauge is dropping quickly then it would be the sender failing. the gauge only display the dignal it recieves. as there are only 3 connections +ve , -ve and signal.
on the hex of the sender there should be a TT number. TT3005-10-38N something like that.
you could always send us the gauge to evaluate, and explain I directed you

Unless Daz as the wrong adaptor fitted i cant see that being the case, the seller of those senders knows he's stuff and the correct application for those units, Daz you should need no aditional sealing of those threads unless your adaptor is damaged or as mentioned as incorrect threads i.e not OE TVR.

Any sender with only one wire on it is going to work by earthing to the block - obviously? The first one read 0 the second one reads 90 and moves down to 80 like a Yoyo.

If you create a bad or no earth by insulating it with PTFE tape it isn't going to work properly.
No point in keep buying new ones if you keep fitting them like this.

It's no wonder it takes a while to get results from these guys.
As far as I can see, Dave (Evil Twin) has been offering to help for 6 days, and no one has said a word in reply!
Albeit, it does appear that Daz's problem may be more to do with using (yet again), something near his oil system, that he should not

Come on Daz, fess up. Have you cured it or killed it?
