The boot release button is mounted on a padded panel below the dash on the right hand side of the steering wheel. (W reg 2000 4.5)
The leather cloth on this panel is coming away at the back and hanging down. I have tried to make repairs in situ using a variety of glues (tube, aerosol etc) without success.
Can the panel be removed so that I can do a proper repair? If so how? If you removed the upper dash does improve access?
Would you recommend trying again to repair in situ to avoid these problems, removing the drivers seat and/or steering wheel to aid access perhaps.
Any tips would be most usefull.

I've had decent success using Evostick - the stuff that comes in something like a paint tin. It's a contact adhesive, so a small smear on both surfaces to be restuck together followed by waiting for about 10mins for it to start 'going off', then press the surfaces together. Job done. Hopefully.
I'd probably try it in-situ, but with only a small amount of the glue on a bit of plastic and apply it with a matchstick or similar.
Don't have the opened tin in the footwell along with your head! It's a horrible stink that can cause a massive headache. Take care matey.
