How difficult is it to replace the rocker cover gaskets on a Chimaera 400 1995? The rh side looks hard to get off with the a/c pipe running just above it. Will the cover come off past this pipe? thanks.

It's all possible but the heater pipes that run along the side of the cover make it awkward.

I assume yours are leaking. They are pretty robust and may just require tightening.

You will need a multipoint 10mm narrow socket or an old one ground down to access the bolts.

Ive run those pipes under the inlet manifold to make life easier.

i have just removed my rocker covers to replace the gaskets, the near side looks the hardest with the plemun etc all in the way, but actually very easy once you undo the plenum, the off side i had a right game with trying to get it away from the fuel rail and pipes at the back of the engine

good luck

Rob, don't use sealent, just pinch up the bolts, you can't crush the gasket as it has the little brass bushes in the bolt eyelets.

Don't let those little brass bushes fall out of the gasket into the rocker gear either!

See you on track soon smile.

mine seems to have a bit more plumbing on the rh side. What's with the heat exchanger/cooler fitting on the a/c pipe? Cooling the fuel? I obviously have to leave the a/c pipe in place, but have to remove all other pipes & wires to get rocker cover off? Thanks.

Pull off the plug leads and vacuum pipes off the side of the plenum.
Tie everything back and out the way and wiggle the r/box off.
It'll be more tricky fitting as you have to ensure the gasket is seated correctly.
