Cherry Bomb Sizes
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I'm planning on going down the cherry bomb route, as one of the baffles is away in my exhaust.
I was just wondering if anyone can give me a note of the sizes of bullet silencer I will need?
A quick look at some of the cherry bomb stuff available suggests there are 3 main measurements:
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Malc

I know this will sound a bit obtuse but it does depend on how you plan on fitting them.
If you're cutting off the rear box (and I assume you are) then your best bet is to measure the length of the box and the piece of pipe yopu need to cut and then go for the ones closest to that.
Mine aren't Cherry Bombs but a generic "booster" that does the same thing, they come without ends (so just the tube itself) and you weld on the appropriate diameter/length of tube to fit.
It's not a completely straight angle they fit on at as the exhaust is going up to clear the diff etc so the "connectors" need to be angled to match (front and rear).
Mine were closer to 12" long and 3" diameter, plus the welded on sections which need to be "custom made" to be the correct length for where you cut.
Actually - thinking about it are you putting them inside the box?
If that's the case then the perforated pipe is around 16" long 2" diameter and ~1.7mm thick (wall). So you'd need two 3" diameter Cherry Bombs that are 12" long and an ID of 2.125".
Which route are you planning on going?

Well initially I was thinking of simply doint it the same way as you would sleave the exhaust, but instead of using piping, using the cherrybomb / bullet silencers.
I'm not planning on doing the work myself, I was going to have a local specialist do it while the car is in for a service. However they said I'd need to source the "cherries" myself.
If I were to be replacing the pipes (as if sleaving) do you know what ID / length would I need?
Also, once fitted, I was initially planning on filling the box back up with wadding, and having it welded shut again. Any disadvantages to this?

12" long and 2.125" ID (2 and a quarter would be OK it'd just need more weld LOL) that'd give you 2" each end of perforated pipe to attach it to.
No issue with re-packing it, it's uneccessary but won't cause any issues. If you're not doing it yourself then any reputable exhaust place will have tube in stock that size, or they can use 2" ID and use a pipe expander to slip it on (that's what I'd do)...
