Lack of oil pressure.
Discussion
Just thought I'd pick your brains.
I fitted a totally rebuilt 4.6 in to my him.
This as rebuilt by a well known builder.
The engine hadn't run at all and I have just fitted S.
The mapper arrived early and set to work. He worked tirelessly all day fitting different connectors, sorting a few problems and assisting in the main problem, lack of oil pressure!
Car started instantly on base map but no oil pressure.
Filled oil cooler complete, removed oil pressure light sender and injected oil in there.
Engine oil pressure was obtained and was running at 50 psi at 1500 RPM, great!
Switched off did another 2 hours of other fiddling, started car and no pressure!
Took oil cooler out the loop to illiminate that, still no pressure!!!
We gave up at 7pm and I will speak to the builder tomorrow.
Spacer behind pulley in situ btw.
Any suggestions would be very useful at this stage.

I would say possibly filter Peter but the good ones have a bypass valve fitted in case the filter medium gets clogged
so I reckon that's out, even a knackered pump shifts oil so unless you have a problem air leak/blockage on the suction side of the pump

A pain but maybe drop the sump and check the oil pickup pipe isn't loose?
^^^ This gets my vote as the first thing to do.Probably a waste of time, of course, but this happens on so many newly assembled engines, of all types.
After all you have gone through to be where you are, it's nothing in comparison, for the sake of certainty...

Tried an OE filter without the oil cooler this morning, no go!
Car's going to engine builder.
'kin gutted to say the least.
My commiserations & sympathies Peter, you really didn't deserve this mate.Car's going to engine builder.

Assuming the oil pressure relief valve is not stuck open & the oil pump is primed & turning; then as long as the pick up strainer is submerged in oil & the other end of the pipe is sealed to the pump body you should get pressure.
The no oil pressure condition has to relate one of these things, like the others have said it's most likely a pick up issue.
On the up side it should be a quick easy fix.
