I will be sorning my Chimaera at the end of the month. It will be stored in a dry garage until Winter is over. Any advice as to how best to prepare my car for storage?

I am going to disconnect the battery and leave some Pingi dehumidifying packs in the car. If I do disconnect the battery will the door lock and if it does how do I get back in the car? I was planning on leaving tine bonnet popped and the window open enough for me to get to the door knob.

Check your insurance on that one. Others have said that these sorts of thing could invalidate your insurance as alarm not working etc, even though battery removal would seem to be one step better than an immobiliser ! You know what they're like though !

I also understand that it is a good idea to remove and store the tyres on their sides to avoid damaging the steel wires through standing on the same spot - I guess that may also get round the insurance problem !

The immobiliser should still kick in when the battery is reconnected. So it will still be really hard so steal. It will also be stored in a locked garage so it should be safe. I don't see any other way around it. The battery will not last 3-4 months.

I was planning to leave my Tamora in the garage and on a trickle charge, with some 'moisture traps' in the car.

I'm not sorning mine, so hope to use her on the better days.

Presumably that's better than just parking her up.

Not sure about the tyres though. Could you not jack it up rather than take the wheels off?

The problem I have is the garage is not near my house and has no power supply so there is no way to trickle charge it. I did look into solar chargers, but I'm pretty sure if I leave it on the roof of the garage it will get nicked by some kids!

I'm moving house soon and will be away with work a lot for the next 3-4 months so I won't get much of an opportunity to drive it, hence why I will sorn. It breaks my heart as I don't know how I will cope with 3-4 months without hearing the V8 sound!
