Hi all, as is usual for me, the complicated projects take forever, aside from being busy I do shy away from difficult stuff even though I know I can do them. I need help. I finally had the WB lambda sensor welded in and finally have all wiring ready to go, very kindly Shaun from V8D gave me some instructions to hook it all up and... FINALLY I'm ready to hook it up. I keep saying finally because this is going on for nearly a year since I bought the WBL. Every time I delve into the abyss of wiring around the battery I break out in hives!

So, the instructions are to splice into the white wire from the fuel pump relay to power the WBL. my problem is two-fold, one it that there are two power connections I need, one for the lambda and one for the lambda control unit (I guess they can be the same?) and two is doing the cutting, i.e. where is the best place to take a 12 volt line active when ignition on, and how best to do it. Shaun advised me to splice into the white wire from the fuel pump relay.

So as we know, there is no wiring diagram or way to positively identify the which of the relays in that clump of relays that are dangling loose are what. There is a relay that has a white and purple lead to it, maybe that's the one I should use, I was just about to cut it... but thought I'd ask the kind and knowledgeable folks here, is this the best place to pull the power form, is there a preferred method (I was just going to cut it and wire in a Y piece) OR, is there a better way.

As usual, thank you all for your help!

J

The fuel pump relay is no.7 in the first post on the above link and is a metal relay in a blue socket. Can't (reliably) help you with other problems....hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I want to take a step back, I need to make two connections, one to the Sensor from the module and one to the module, both are 12v connections activated by the key, i.e. ignition.

where is the best place to get these connections from? I'm pretty good at wiring a soldering, so aside from the hate of getting into that mess and tight area behind the battery, just seems strange, like a bodge, to just grab the wire from the fuel pump relay, cut it, splice it and run it...
