Has anyone any experience of this as a crank change option for the earlier engine? Thanks in advance

Not a practical experience, only that the early engines are not cross-bolted and have smaller journals so a rather weak base to build large capacity engines from possibly?

V8Tuner did once advertise an R380 gearbox years ago, I bought it and received the earlier LT77. Response was "it's a good gearbox, who cares whether it's R380 or LT77?"

Just sayin wink

Thanks. Not sure if the small journals are weak or the cross bolted stronger than the small journals. Just curious if this a viable route or not. I left v8 tuner a message earlier and wait to here what he hays to say

to keep to a 5 litre you would need to have a block top hat linered to 96mm and custom pistons

I suspected it might not be as simple as it seemed! The advert said 4.8 litre on standard rods and I assumed pistons

I had a 3.9 non cross bolted block line bored to take the 4.6 crank and pistons, then raced it for years, no liner cracks, bullet proof.

It will be 4.8 on standard piston size, but you would need new rods and pistons to get the right deck heights
