So after almost 3 weeks had my first mechanical, coming up to a mini roundabout, went to brake and the pedal went to floor! Which was interesting... Pumping the pedal got me back home where after a bit of investigation I found an emory brake reservoir and fluid coming out of the shaft on the pedal.

So I'm assuming this is the master cylinder leaking and hoping this can be fixed with new seals? Anybody had anything similar?

Brakes are rather critical so I never fit new seals only a replacement master cylinder.

Sounds like a failed MC frown as above don't bother resealing its a cast iron cylinder so replacement recommended as the only solution wink

Not worth fixing, only replace.

I replaced mine with one from brakes international (ford xr2 part) the part number is BMC4230, should be about £85

Don't you Chimaera guys have a warning on the MIL bar when your brake fluid level is low?

I know when my Master Cylinder went there was very little indication because the carpets soaked up all the fluid, but at least the MIL light told me there was something amiss before it got critical.

It flickered a little bit but that was it, so that's something I shall be looking into.

I had a similar problem recently. Make sure there is no fluid inside the servo - thats where most of my fluid went!
The low fluid warning light didn't come on either. When I stripped the cap I found the contacts had corroded.I managed to clean them up and now they work OK.
