Is it worth an extra £25 for 245 Tyres?

Sorry to keep posting questions that have been done to death, but I'm just at the credit card stage on mytyres.co.uk and wondering whether 245x45x16 rear tyres are worth the extra? I currently have 225x50x16

I swapped my wheels some time back and the news ones came with the larger 245s. From the moment they went on the ride seemed worse, they were both SO2s so it was not that and I have played around with pressures to no avail. It could be just my imagination but when they wear out I am going back to 225s.
I am sure the wider tyres are of more use on a 500, mine is the lowly 400 economy model
