Hi guys, looking for a little help on the connector front smile

I have an air temperature sensor on the back of my (ACT CF) plenum, and the connector that plugs into it has corroded badly (resulted in air temp readings down to -31 and subsequent massive overfuelling (thanks again Phil)). Do any of you guys recognise the connector below? Any help in sourcing one much appreciated.... smile

Thanks in advance,

Chilli

Is it an inline connector? If so then why not just replace both sides of the connector?

Hi Phil, not that simple unfortunately, it plugs into the sensor which penetrates the plenum and then is retained by a nut on the inside of the plenum. A new connector is the simple answer, but if I can't get one (or do get one and still have issues) then It'll be a plenum off exercise... not a 5 minute job with the ACT triple... and new sensor and connector (from ExtraEFI)...

Cheers,

Chilli

So that connector is actually off your loom then?

Hmmm ... OK ... In that case I'd try to get something a bit more "universal" and drop one of these...

http://www.lloydspecialistdevelopments.co.uk/unive...

...into the plenum in place of the existing sensor and then crimp a "standard" 2 way Junior Timer connector...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Way-Junior-Power-Timer...

...onto the loom.

That connector is not on the Tvr loom, I suggest you speak to the person that made your loom,

Hi Peter and a happy and prosperous new year smile

It was Phil who identified/found the fault... spent three and a half hours with Phil yesterday morning mapping the ECU, with some phone help from Shaun smile Phil put in a 'temporary sensor' that's strapped onto the outside of the plenum on the drivers side...

I also got to see Phil's Cobra, which is bloody lovely cloud9

The sensor isn't an ExtraEFI jobbie, and the probability is that it was already fitted to the plenum when I bought it from from RPI, but the plenum got sent from RPI direct to V8D and Rob fitted it when the lump was being built/put back in the car, hence its origin is a bit of a mystery...

I learnt more about megasquirt in a few hours yesterday than I have since it was fitted nearly 18 months ago.. The mapping session yesterday has transformed the driveability, it's now a completely different animal smile

Couldn't do any acceleration/WOT mapping because of the road conditions, but I now have the map and Tuner Studio so I can data log, and Phil can review it and correct as necessary smile

How are you getting on? you've been a bit quiet lately???

Cheers mate,

Chilli smile

Hi Richard, happy new year to you and all the happy tiv twiddlers!

I'm glad your mapping is finally heading in the right direction smile.

I've had more then my share of problems, mainly the lack of oil pressure which I sorted myself.

Got a small problem mapping but expecting a new adapter from Phil tomorrow.

I may be heading in your general direction for final mapping, I'll keep you informed.

I just hope this year isn't such a wash out, 2 T/Ds is pathetic, roll on the next few days then I should be sorted............

Yup, easy to find and have loads of useful automotive connectors and switches. Heat shrink, asbestos sheathing, everything for making looms up.

Problem was a loose oil pickup pipe fitted with an old gasket!
The oil pump also had an inner cover plate that was 12 thou concave!

You would have thought that the engine builder would know better FFS!

Hope the mapping went ok with Phil's makeshift sensor. The connector/sensor problem was probably causing the unstable idle then.

You say the car is better now so hopefully you have more a decent increase in power/torque with the induction mod and the mapping.

Have a look here: http://uk.mouser.com/Connectors/Automotive-Connect...

found lots of plugs on there that I wanted for a project but ended up getting them elsewhere.
Might take a bit of guessing/searching to find them, but most have pictures. I used to find stuff by applying the filters for number of positions, male/female etc.

You may need to buy the actual contacts inside the plug separately, they will be listed as well.

ETA: Looks similar (but not the same) as this one:
http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Delphi-Connecti...

Maybe its from the same range ?

Its very likely to be a delphi connector.
That page links through to the delphi site, where you may find more info.
