If you were planning a long trip around Europe what spare parts would you take with you?

I always carry a selection of tools as it is and the car is well serviced and used, but youd be pissed off if the 100amp fuse blew and you had no spare with you for instance.

A selection of bulbs and fuses, a serpentine belt, a couple of plugs, a spare HT lead long enough to reach any plug, some self amalgamating tape, some ATF fluid and oil, some pre-mixed coolant.

I'd also take a spare key and alarm fob.

A can of tyre weld is useful too.

Oh and a credit card too LOL

Don't forget the V5 and insurance docs too (and copies) plus the stuff you need in France now (tow rope, 5L of fuel, hi-vis vest per person, breathalysers, 9 LED torch etc)

You are doing better than me in planning, I normally just jump in and go... But then I keep most of this stuff in the boot anyway...

Here's my packing list:

Jubilee Clips
String
Stepper Motor
Otter Switch
100 Amp fuses and box
40 Amp fuses
Fuel Pump relay
Glue
Hand Cleaner
Gloves
First Aid Kit
Fire Extinguisher/Triangle/Yellow vests x 2 in the car.
Tyre Weld x 2
Multimeter
Cable ties
Plug Leads or longest lead
Bulbs
Tow Rope
Duct Tape
WD 40
Electrical Tape
Rug (to lie on, not hairpiece!)
Electrical connector blocks
Coil
Fanbelt - having checked size and fit
Throttle Cable
Allen Keys
Knife
Tool Kit
Hacksaw

All fits into 2 neat boot tidies bought off Fleabay that sit comfortably behind the stowed roof in the space that is too awkward for most things to fit into. Chuck the spare wheel for touring - too awful to drive on and where will you put the punctured original with a full car and a female co-pilot?

Don't forget high viz jackets for each occupant, fire extinguisher and alcohol tests for France.

Decided against fluids as they take up too much room and French Service Stations are pretty well equipped. I'll check fluids when I refuel or daily but my Chim has never needs any oil between services - dunno why and yes it does get driven!

I knew I had a good use for all those bits ive replaced, justifying all the money I've spent now, all good advice, credit cards the main one. I'm sure if you look after and know your motor well, not much should go wrong. Ha ha ha ha. Fuses are a good one! I don't have space saver wheel, always carry two cans of tyre glupe. The right selection of tools!

Take a spare water pump and the gentleman in the picture.hehe He managed to change his pump, crouched in that position, in a hotel car park in Dunkirk. clap

This was on day 1 of a 5 day jaunt thru Belgium to Spa and once he changed the pump, his car performed perfectly, including laps around the Spa racetrack.

His name is Steve and his car is an S3 and he is sick to death of seeing this pic!

Nutter, sore knees or what, easier to take bonnet off surely? Makes me feel totally at home now I see we're all the same! Long live Tvr men. I reckon I'd have struggled to do it that way when I was 18.
