Wing mirrors...
Discussion
How does does the mirror glass adhere to the wing mirror? Is it double sided tape or adhesive? The mirror glass seems to have 'slipped' over time to the base of the mirror interior, which is preventing me from adjusting it.
What is the best way to get it off the mirror glass? Is it worth heating it up with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive or will prising it off suffice?
Cheers!

There should be a lever under the glass but not easy to see which just protruces a little. You'll need to slide this over (only a fraction though) to the side and the glass should come out. I use an electrical screwdriver.

Thanks for that, I'll go and have a look for it!FFG
Okay, I tried the drivers side first as the tab was immediately visible due to the mirror being where it should be. The tab moved and the mirror glass came off without any effort.
The pax side is a different story and the tab appears to be pushed over towards the door already as if it has been broken off. I've tried moving it, but it wont budge. I had to gently lever and prise the mirror up and forwards to get access. Any ideas how to disconnect the mirror glass with no 'tab'?

That's exactly why I posted earlier, the tab rings do seize (some WD40 or similar might get it moving, they just fill up with road crud)... If not, the tab mech is affixed to the back of the mirror glass with sticky pads or double sided tape. A bit of judicious warming (even from the mirror heater circuit if it still works) might be enough to soften the glue enough to get it apart. Have seen them where the glue has oozed out and stuck the tab ring

Hi - sorry to jump in on this thread but one of my door mirrors came unstuck from the rotating mechanism a while back. I managed to stick it back on with some double-sided adhesive pads (No More Nails) but the mirror has come away again. Has anyone got any advice as to the best things to hold the glass on to the rotating mechanism as pictured in this thread?
