I had a space saver in my Griff, don't you?
When I got the Elise it came with a can of Halfords weld as there is no space saver,or room for one, so I guess Lotus see it fit to use Halfords weld in there new cars.
I've not used the weld yet, as I understand it if you do then the tyre is scrap.
HNY to you.

I have a can but I don't know how good it is. My car doesn't have a spare so I would be calling the breakdown service if the can didn't work.

Thanks
I have a space saver in the boot, but was wondering if there was anything on the market that you can use without damaging the tyre beyond repair.

I wouldn't run a repaired tyre on my TVR anyway so don't mind if the tyre weld did wreck it.....

I carry both; tyre weld won't work if you have a significant hole or cut in the tyre.

I carry 2 cans of weld but not had to use it yet phew !! ... just gotta remember to carry my air compressor (worked off the ciggie lighter) in case the tyre has lost a lot of air.

Many brand new cars carry no spare......so RAC relay is your best friend here.

On run to TVR cc event with 2 tickets, in convoy M4 R/N/S tyre blew out, tyre weld totally useless, RAC did v good tyre bodge, off motorway, put up in hotel. On a Sunday so no tyre places open, order tyre Monday morning, fitted lunchtime, go home. Now have spacesaver, inflatable bodge stuff waste of money. Did not get to event either.

I have a good experience with Holts Tyreweld. and carry one in my car along with a space saver spare wheel.

as far as the "ruining your tyre" goes...

Some repairers (e.g. Kwik Fit) tell people that this product ruins tyres and that they have to buy a new one.
According to Holts, this is not true and Tyreweld is just water based "liquid rubber" so can't damage anything.
It's just a lot easier and more profitable for them to sell you a new tyre rather than having to remove the white stuff and repair the old one
I've used this product a few times now. It works just fine and I got the tyre permanently repaired afterwards every time.

You just can't genaralise like that, some of these tyre repair products may be useless or even ruin the tyre, but not all, just read what it says on the can first.

Carrying a small 12V compressor, "just in case" is also a good thing, can save you a lot of time.
