hi all

I'm looking to buy and fit a new k&n air filter for the chim
does anyone know the k&n part number so I can buy from my local supplier

I have seen them at act and another main tvr supplier but the part numbers don't match the k&n web site

cheers keith

As an adjunct to this - are there any issues with getting rid of the long inlet pipework and moving the filter closer to the plenum?

I realise that this would mean that when stationary then the filter would be in hot air but once on the move then that shouldn't be a problem as there's one hell of an airflow through that engine bay...

Years ago JE engineering found that a K&N directly on the AFM caused low speed poor fueling, the idea being the air was turbulent as it passed over the hot wire having just exited the air filter, so the results where not consistent. Their fix was to use the ITG filter with its huge bellmouth construction, but they are really big. I did have the ITG fitted to the AFM (Ginetta- not TVR), but it broke up on me, so I switched to the K&N and have never noticed any difference or seen unstable AFM readings when I was measuring the output at idle however . As the TVR has the long inlet tube, any turbulence is smoothed out anyway.

DAZ- I suspect you are being fed a line about the restrictions, they have a huge breathing capacity.

So are you saying there is no restriction with the recommended K&N sold by the TVR specialists .

Go and dig out the K&N catalogue with your part number- They give a maximum recommended BHP from memory.

Give me a few days I will take the air filter out and give you the mould number ..The TVR supliers have just found one to fit ,it`s more of a universal filter..
