I used to own a '95/N Chimaera 4HC Starmist Green - did about 41,000 miles when I sold it back in 2002. I sold it with my private plate N1 BHP.

I just wondered whether anyone here has it now, and whether it has been as good to you as it was to me.

They say you never forget your first.........

Spooky. There I am whiling away a quiet Sunday evening, when someone pops up enquiring after my TVR.

I bought the car without the plate (now N466 COV) on Good Friday 2003 from a guy in Slough, only to have the alarm/immobiliser fail in Sainsburys car park Brookwood that same day. (Much respect to Racing Green for hanging aroung til 7pm on a Good Friday for the AA to recover me). £500 for the alarm, and some little jobs later, and she's still fine, and living in Woking. Now on 3rd speedo, but total miles now approx 56000 (only about 3000 from me). Had an argument with the neighbours cat and my garage door post the other week, resulting in a nearside scuff and cracked wheel arch. Haven't got round to getting that fixed yet, but otherwise she's stil pretty good.....

Hi there - glad she's still going.......

Yeah, the N466 COV plate was on her when I bought her from Adrian Blyth back in November 2001.

The only problems I had in about a years ownership was the speedo - I had to get the first one done, (Newtown Motors in Cwmbran), which I'm surprised would have re-failed so quickly, and an overheating problem, (hanse the fan over-ride).

The only other thing was the leaking - boot, passenger footwell from the nearside windscreen, (laminate was coming apart at the bottom), and through the drivers side hood where it met the wing (dodgy velcro).!!

She didn't really cost me that much to run for the year - service and speedo in (Newtown Motors), all the Leven gear, battery, Xenon headlight bulbs (bugger of a job as this chim doesn't have the inspection hatch in the wheel arches), Cooling fan over-ride switch, nice Pioneer head unit and multi CD.....that's about it as far as I can recall.

If you have any pics and stuff, that would be a superb blast from the past (no pun intended) - maybe you could email some to me.??

Keep in touch.

Nick.

Boot still wet : Has defied all attempts to find so far, but I ony drive in the dry, so no real problem. Passenger footwell hasn't been damp yet (!)

Replaced the pioneer head unit with a newer one that plays MP3s a couple of months ago.

I don't know what hot starting problems you had, but I now have the hot starter problem where it doesn't even turn over. That's a real pain if you don't remember to fill up with fuel at he start of the journey! Am still looking at modding the fans to stay on for a period after ignition off. I don't want to simply fit the modwise kit as I believe that this only works on the otter switch. I want something to run for longer, or maybe even run multiple times to reduce heatsoak. My biggest start problem is if I stall getting out of my garage (slight lip, and dog leg). If I stall while cold, she wont restart for at least a minute. Seems to run very rich for the first 2-3 minutes, and just "floods" if you try and restart quickly during this period.

Headlights are still lousy. I didn't realise there were "xenons" in there!! You just saved me a long and pointless job !

Don't have any pics at the mo, but will take some and mail you next time it's sunny......

Now you come to mention it, I did have some trouble with hot starting - although it did re-start after being left for a couple of minutes.

Just before I decided to sell it, I was going to replace the starter motor and get some heat sheilding in there - maybe worth doing if you're still getting the same problem.

I think I also had a slight issue with the drivers door seal coming apart - all a bit hazy now though.

Anyway, I saw your post about upgrading the interior / dash with some coloured bulbs / electronic displays - I'd love to know how you get on with that.

Looking forward to the pics - I have a few pics of the car when I had her - they were the pics I took to advertise her. I've also got a couple of black & white rear pics taken by a local speed camera - Doh.!!

Take care.

Nick.

Have you looked at fitting the mod-wise hot-start kit?

The mod-wise fan kit includes separate temperature probes so it'll take over if the otter switch fails. The top model (there is a range of 3) includes the option to keep the fans running without the ignition.
