I'm coming to realise that there is no such thing as a cheap Chim unless you are VERY lucky.
The cheap ones I have looked at would have to have money spent on them; I suppose you could argue that if you spend that money yourself at least you know what's been done properly! Conversely I think I would happily buy from any of the contributors on this forum and trust that the car had been cared for.
I sold both my 500 and 400 for over £11k at least 3 years ago. They were both well sorted and great cars. I figure that I have to pay at least that again to get a good one.
The positive from that is that they seem to be holding their value well.
I'm off to Portugal until May so have stopped looking, but at least I know what I'll have to spend once I get home. My dream of a £6K Chim is exactly that. Just a dream.....

Have to agree couldn't find anything like my old 2000w 450 Chim for what I sold it for 6 years ago ! So paid more and bought the best I could find ! They do exist, 3 years ago a got a chin for 5k yes I have spent 2k fixing stuff the rest was purely my choice, the car has done 82000 mile and nevers misses a heart beat, the out riggers are original and show no signs of ware, it did 248 horses on a rolling road last year and is an unmodified 4 litre, if these cars are looked after, used often and well maintained a good old one can be found if you look, I do not see myself as lucky I found 3 cars I would have brought all around the same price all looked in similar nick, I choose this one cause it was close to home ish. Yes there will be some dogs out there but those dogs deserve a home, a project for someone, go find engineers post for inspiration,
we cannot complain on one hand on the dismissing numbers of cars and then on the other hand not be interested in older cars through fear of what we may find under the bonet, most things can be fixed, treated or repaired. We must also look after our cars so they will be still around for the next generation, tvr as it was will never come back so we need to enjoy the cars today - rant over :-)

Whilst the rest of the car world think there unreliable, values will always suffer? As time goes by and our sorted cars are still around maybe then we might enjoy the respect the Mark should deserve, as said before on here enjoy your car now and into the future, value is a small part of the deal, if you love the feeling of the car then it's dirt cheap fun. We all gotta have fun! Sure as a business deal there not easy to sell but if you don't want to sell there ruddy great. I see every good owner as like the shed geniuses of our once great land, important to the nation, we should cherish them. Lol .
