I've asked this on the TVRCC forum, and whilst I've had a couple of replies (thanks guys) they haven't really answered the question. Maybe someone on here can help?

Car is a 2000 Chim 450. I'm getting a slight musty smell through the heater, so I want to flush the ducts & matrix with aircon sanitiser. My Chim doesn't have aircon or recirculation, so my plan is to discharge the sanitiser into the heater fresh air intake with the blower fan running. Problem is, I can't find the intake!

I believe the blower motor is mounted inside the left wing beside the passenger footwell, and air is drawn through the wing itself before being blown into the heater box & matrix inside the cabin. If this is correct, there must be an inlet hole somewhere to let the air into the NSF wing, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Can anyone tell me where to look?

Many thanks

Mitch

It comes in from the front, the hole under the indicator which is also connected to the big open mouth.

Thanks PF - I wasn't looking that far forward! I'll see if I can find it over the weekend. Is there any ducting between the intake at the front and the heater blower or is the wing just an empty void?

As far as I know there isn't any ducting or pipework from the front of the car. Can't find much in the way of pictures but the crashed car shows the void between the outer wing and the inner wheelarch. On my Griff there is an access plate under the AFM which might be a suitable point to inject the freshener. Otherwise reach in behind the indicators. Hope this helps.

Just an empty void, no ducting on mine.

Thank you gents, that's really helpful. I've had a poke around the front indicator area, but still can't find the intake hole. However, if there's no ducting in the wing I reckon the easiest plan is to pop out the indicator side repeater and fill the wing with sanitizer through there.

Thanks again

Mitch

FWIW I have wanted to get in there too, but with a vacuum cleaner hose, as my passengers have been pebble-dashed with seed husks and foam thanks to mice in the heater passageways.

I have been told recently that the intake is level with the side indicator repeater, somewhere internal. I tried under the front indicator, but that's not it.
