Just purchased a kit second hand ,comes from a Griff with auroquip pipes.

Just a quick question, should one of the outlets on the sandwich plate be closed by the remote stat ?this is before it`s fitted !

Mine are both open .. The oil cooler has a direction on it so which conection on the sandwich plate is the flow.

Where do i pickup for the oil temp .

anyone know the part number fo a shorter filter cheers

Bought a spare today, Mahle, OC57 or cheapy UFI, 2311401.

As to the rest of your questions Daz, just pipe it up.

I fitted my cooler with an outlet at the bottom so you can drain it if you feel thay way inclined.

Another school of thought is to have the connections at the top so it cant drain back, decisions decisions!

You can't just "close" one of the connections, oil will have knowhere to go!

oil stat should have four connections so when closed oil is looped back to filter.

Which is flow? fit sandwich plate and pipes, put ends in a bucket and crank engine (ht lead off), you'll soon see which is flow!

Once all fitted crank again to prime cooler and return pipe before starting.

Its a water / oil cooler so no stat is needed.

The oil is forced out of the pump and out through the hole where TVR fit the pressure sensor under the front cover. Piped into rad alongside hot/cold coolant, and returns to front cover. The side tapping on the front cover has a gallery that goes through to the pump (just above where the hole for the pressure sensor is), the cooler return pipe fitting is a cunning affair that has a blind end with an o-ring that blocks that gallery (forcing the pump to push everything through the cooler pipes except the pressure relief bypass) and a perpendicular hole to allow the returning oil from the cooler into the front cover then into the oil filter as usual.

Various myths abound that the front cover has a stat, and that special bungs are needed when not using the LR cooler pipes, both are just plain misleading rumours.
