The time has come to fit a new clutch. Under normal driving it appears to be ok. But when driven in anger last time at the strip there was a burning smell. I dont think a paddle clutch is needed. I have spoken with AP and they are sending me the details of a single plate clutch. Is there another company I could t alk to
The motor is putting out 383bhp & 440lb/ft when on gas.
Thanks
Barrie

I ran the John Eales organic for 3 years putting over 500 lb/ft through it many times before it started to eat itself from the inside! The plate material was still good.

If you dont get greedy with the nitrous Barrie then the JE jobbie should serve you well.

It is very heavy. Its ok most of the time but is a pain if you get stuck in traffic.
There is also some judder at times when setting off slowly.

I somehow managed to spin it up at Shakey in the burnout box and its now making some horrible noises while the clutch is in so its coming out for inspection when i get home next week.

Mine was the worst clutch ever, as heavy as a McDonalds fed cart horse!

I have the AP clutch 300ftlb but i still get a burning smell..mad (originaly purchased from John Eals)

The next one up is the paddle clutch so where do i go next..!

Pressure Plate/Cover Plate: CP2394-14
Friction Plate: CP2346-4

Peter did your clutch have yellow paints spots on the pressure plate (thats the TVR Power one

Mine has green paint spots to identify the diaphram springs it uses. The TVR Power one has Yellow.

Bit pcensoredd off.

I ran a standard Power supplied 5.0 for about 20K miles or thereabouts and all was fine.

These clutches are OK for road or track use but the strip will kill them after a while if you have north of 300 horses.

Personally I will stick to standard at the moment as I really don't want a heavier clutch!

Spoke with JE today, he does a single plate AP that he advises is good for 440lb/ft.

Daz, don't know what colour my spots are.

What I know is compared to the Helix clutch my standard one feels like a Clio clutch!
